I've been running the on-board Intel HD 3000 Graphics for the better part of a year now and I've been needing dual display. I got a new NVidia 9800 GT with dual DVI. What kind of issues might I run into just swapping out the new card for the onboard graphics? Additionally, I want to extend my screens, NOT mirror, anyone have any input on caveats that I might run into?

Thanks for any input,

Brian

I have a Gigabyte EP43 DSL3 with Realtek 8111C built in ethernet, running Lion relatively smoothly. The only problem I have is when I transfer a large amount of data (files over smb) from the hackintosh to my windows computer, osx will get 'hosed' at some indeterminate point during the transfer (sometimes 25 minutes into the transfer, and sometimes 10 minutes, impossible to predict). By 'hosed' I mean osx loses all network functionality including internet, and all of the apps stop responding. I can move the mouse and click on menus, but trying to shutdown or restart just causes a spinning beach ball. In the end, the only solution is a hard reset. It's as if the entire network stack crashes, and then subsequently takes down the OS. It's really quite strange. And annoying, since I need to copy files often from the hackintosh.

Has anyone run into anything remotely similar? I seem to be using the RealtekRTL81xx.kext driver.

If I can't figure this out, I may consider buying a separate network card to use instead of the Realtek. Can anyone suggest one that is known to work out of the box with kakewalk?

Thanks

I have and desktop hackintosh for sometime now and well also have a mac-book. But i want to build a nice 1u sever hackintosh and have been looking around on Google and seem's no one has tried. I'm wondering if anyone has attempted this on here. If not I plan on going ahead and attempting one and i'll post my results here as I find things to fit to my needs. For one it will be low power 200 watt power supply and running a low power I3 cpu for example http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115094 so heat and massive heat sink aren't needed. This will be my Itunes media server for one and to do some remuxing on tv-shows so horse power isn't need at all.

Also btw I my be new to the board here but have been reading it for sometime now.
Kakewalk has been crashing and forcing reboot after the load screen with the image of the hard drive. I have tried verbose mode to see what particular issue i am having but the system reboots too quickly. I have a Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3, i5 2500k, 8 GB DDR3 Ripjaws, Crucial M4 128GB SSD, Cooler Master Heat Sync, and an 850W PSU.
I had it running after finishing the build initially, then I installed the sound and network driver kexts, ran tonyxmac to install a few other drivers and I think it may have done something to the boot sequence of the SSD. Any thoughts anyone? I would appreciate any help whatsoever
Thanks
Glenn

Hey, first of all, I'm new at this foro and really noob in Hackintosh.

I have the following PC, the same that Kakewalk PRO but changing the graphic card:

CPU: Intel Core i7-2600K
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z68MX-UD2H-B3
Graphics Card: nVidia GTX 460
RAM: Corsair Vengence Blu 1600Mhz DDR3 (12 GB)
Power Supply: OCZ 750w ModXStream Pro
Hard Drive: WD Caviar Green 2 TB

I follow all the instructions and i was able to install Lion 10.7 successfully, with boot0: error but I could solve it.
All was working, the graphic card, the sound, even network (with a usb-wifi).

The problem came when I tried to download an app from the App Store, I tried to login and I saw a message:

"Your device or computer could not be verified"

The same with iCloud.

What I've tried:
- Reset all network configurations, delete Network plist.
- With Chameleon Wizard, change my SMBios.plist
- Change the bootloader, PCIRootUID = 1, EthernetBuild = YES
- Try to change Device Propieties with EFI hexa-string
- Update to Lion 10.7.3, but the problem persists.

more or less I've tried all from those tutorials:

http://www.osx86.net/10-7-lion/11315-app-store-your-device-computer-could-not-verified.html

http://www.tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=169&t=28477

I think that maybe it is due the Wifi, because it is not fully suported by Apple, it's a "d-link dwl-g122".

Any help will be appreciated.

PD: Sorry for my bad english
