Just built 2 hackintosh systems. I liked my system so much, I built one for my wife as well; to replace her aging Powerbook G4.
Both machines are using the Gigabyte EP45T-UD3LR board (with DDR3 1066 Dims) My system has Intel Core 2 Duo 3GHz 8GB of Ram DDR3 4 harddrives and two DVD burners Asus GT220 1GB video card running 10.6.4
My wife's system is almost the same, only I used and EVGA GS220 512MB video card
Both systems are ROCK SOLID. My system runs Final Cut Pro, aperture and Photo Shop with ease.
I also run win 7 64 bit on the system as well, which I can boot into using the f12 BIOS boot menu.
I want to buy an either an ATI5870 card or a GT 460 card so I can game in win 7. but does anyone know if I can use these video cards under OSX?

either one will work - the hd5770 is now default for the MacPro and the hd5870 is the upgrade - so download and install the latest 10.6.4 combo update package for the mid 2010 MacPro and see if it will work. If not, see tonymacx86's Multibeast here: http://www.tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4603 for loading the video kext files for the ATI or the fermi thread on insanelymac for info on the nVidia card - just search for "fermi" Multibeast may have the nVidia also
