Hackintosh and Boinxtv
  • Hi everybody...
Thank you very much in advance

I´m not totally sure if this post could be consider as a topic for this forum (sorry if it doesn´t) but this is the question...

I need to use Boinxt tv for a small local tv station...
The logic answer if "why don´t you buy a Imac and don´t run risks?"
Because I need to use 3 cameras and Imac only have 1 firewire IEE1395 conector.

So the alternative is built a hackintosh...
There are plenty of sucessful histories about building hackintosh over here

so I would like to ask anybody if is possible anybody to try boinxtv for a while and tell if it work fine.

I tried to install Boinx under Snow leopard but it showed an error message telling it doesn´t recognize the video card but the card I have is superior to the one recomended

So... i need someone to go to boinxtv website dowload the demo and use it for 3 days (that is was the demo last)
if anybody tell me "yes... it work fine for me" then he (or she) can tell me the components of his(her) system so i could purchase it and get mine running fine..

    Again..
    Thank you very much
    Have a very nice day....
  • I will not have the time to test for 3 days, but I have been experimenting with it for the past 4 hours and I will say it is a very nice app. Just wish the price wasn't so high (sigh). During the time I was trying various things and watching the demo video on how to change/move things around it worked extremely well without a hitch on the following hackintosh:

    CoolerMaster Cosmos RC-1000 case, GA-X58A-UD7 Rev.1 F7, Core i7 920 @ 3.2Ghz, Noctua NH-U12P, 12G Corsair Dominator DDR3 (2 x TR3X6G1600C8D KIT), Sapphire HD5770 Vapor-X 100283VXL, Corsair HX850, Pioneer DVR-S18MBK, LG BH-08LS20, 74Gb WD velociraptor/OS X 10.6.8, 300Gb WD VelociRaptor/OS X Lion 10.7.2 (installed over 10.6.8, so it is using the 10.6.8 kernel), 300Gb WD VelociRaptor/Win7 Ultimate 64 Bit

The board is still available, but the processor has been discontinued. Other X58 core i7 processors are still available. Total build cost is under US$1500.

You should be aware, however, that I am not using the DSDT provided by Kakewalk with this build. I have customized the DSDT with several "fixes" and edited it also for audio over HDMI for the graphics card.
