AMD Radeon hd 6870
  • wanna get my 6870 graphics card up... any idea how to to do this? do i need to change any of the kexts?
  • Mine worked out of the box when I did a install with kakewalk. I however am having problems with the HDMI cable and other DVI ports for dual monitors.
  • try to edit your .plist in EXTRA folder and write:
    GraphicsEnabler
    no
  • Having the same issue and my GraphicsEnabler already states no.

Actually my Hackamac works fine as far as monitor but when I go to play batman game my card crashes. I noticed in my about mac my card is listed as AMD Radeon HD 6xxx 2048 MB does this mean 6870 is just barely working and I am not getting my full functionality of my card?
  • There's no reason why that card shouldn't work since it's fully supported by native Apple drivers. What brand and model is your card?

  • XFX Radeon HD 6870, PCI Express 2.1 2GB GDDR5, model: HD-687X-CN I have two of these cards but have not linked them crossfire due to not having the connector just yet. I could run my Batman game fine in Lion but I get an error crash report with Mt. Lion?

  • If you get that same error every time, and you're not getting crashes with other software then it's probably an application incompatibility or other ML software incompatibility.

Also CrossFire doesn't work on the Mac.
  • I figured crossfire probably would not work but I am curious if there is added performance or just a waste of money me having the two graphics cards. I remmber having 2x GTX 480's SLI & I noticed a huge increase in performance but that was Snow Leopard. Guess it was just an increased based on having two cards not the fact that the cards were SLI linked. Thanks for your time & info I really do appreciate the feed back ;)

  • Those SLI'd cards are probably supported by OS X if you saw a performance boost but my understanding is that CrossFire is not supported.

  • Awesome, thanks for the input, very much appreciated ;)
