Issue with XFX HD 6870 (HD-687A-ZDFC)

    I have the following configuration:

    Gigabyte GA-Z68AP-D3 (rev 2)
    Intel Core i5 2500K
    GeIL Black Dragon GB316GB1333C9DC
    XFX HD 6870 1024 MB DDR5 DisplayPort (HD-687A-ZDFC) (http://xfxforce.com/en-us/Products/Graphics-Cards/AMD/AMD-Radeon-HD-6000-Series/AMD-Radeon-HD-6870/HD-687A-ZDFC.aspx)
    Iiyama E2472HDD monitor
    Crucial m4 CT128M4SSD2 128GB
    Seasonic S12II-Bronze 430W
    Scythe Big Shuriken 2

    The issue I have is with the videocard/LCD, the monitor is connected via a DVI -> VGA adapter.
    After the text during the installation (when switching to the graphical interface) the display goes 'blank' (standby)
    I also have a displayport -> VGA adapter, when installing with this adapter the installation works fine, also in MacOS the display works.
    However this displayport -> VGA adapter has issues with windows: sometimes gives errors claiming the connection was lost and switching to 800x600 resolution.
    And in MacOS (after installation) the DVI -> VGA adapter gives no image.

    Is there a way to set the display output locked to a DVI port?

    Fixed. Don't use DVI->VGA adapters.
    Turns out the monitor has a DVI port, connected a DVI->DVI cable, both Windows 7 and MacOS work fine now.
