Kakewalk Lite Build Graphics Card Issue
  • Hi,

I have a Kakewalk Lite (2012) with the following modifications:

    i5-2500 (from the Moderate build)
Samsung 22x DVD burner (this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827151244)

Installation was straightforward per the instructions, but I'm having either a DVD drive or graphics card issue.

The CD/DVD drive works fine as a CD player, and I can rip DVD's with Mac DVDRipper Pro. When I start Mac DVDRipper Pro, I get a warning that the region for the DVD drive has not been set (with instructions to start DVDPlayer to set it), but the rip still works just fine.

When I start DVDPlayer, try to play a DVD, or try play the ripped DVD file ("name".dvdmedia), DVD player crashes. I will post the crash log in the next comment.

    1) Is this a graphics card problem? If so, can anyone point me towards a solution?
    2) Is this a DVD drive problem? Should I get the Sony Optiarc recommended in the build guide?

    Thanks much, Ed
  • Update: I've replaced the Samsung DVD drive with the drive suggested in the Kakewalk build guide. DVD Player still crashes with an unhandled exception.

The entire error log is too long to post here, but I can put the rest of it up somewhere else if it'd be helpful. Anyone have any ideas?
