GA-G41M-ES2L Sound & Graphics
  • Hello,

I have managed to install Snow Leopard using kakewalk usb installer v2.2 on a GA-G41M-ES2L mainboard with an asus 8400GS 512mb graphics card. Initially sound appeared not to be enabled when I updated to 10.6.4. I ran ridgeline GA-G41M-ES2L postinstaller v2.3 and the HDA 10.6.2 kext (both found on his own website) and sound then worked (i.e could see that the drivers were installed in "about my mac" and could select output in system prefs. The only problem I now have is my gaphics card appears to be installed (can see it in "about my mac") but I cannot select my native resolution for my monitor.... Would anybody be able to point me in the right direction for a fix? Would running OSXtools and loading my cards EFI-Strings work?

I am very new to hackintosh so any help would be of use...

    Thanks

    Bob
  • FIRST!

Check upon your VGA/DVI Cable!!!!! Be sure that your Graphics Adapter can "communicate" with your Monitor!

Had a similar issue with my 9400 GT, when I changed my VGA Cable everything was fine!!!!
  • Update: First off thanks to both who replied with their suggestions.

Followed the link above and carried out clearing of my NVkexts and reset all extensions/ permissions. Then installed the NVenabler kext.

After the first restart nothing happened, but after watching a film (720p) and then restarting the resolution and monitor appeared to then be recognised. weird but seemed to work...

Have also ordered a DVI cable to hopefully improve on the situation but all seems to now be working.

    Fully working GA-G41M-ES2l with 8400GS 512MB.

Thanks to kakewalk for all his hard work on the installer and for setting up this forum.
