Kakewalk "Software Update" Tool Project
  • I think it would be really great to have a tool that worked a bit like Software Update for Kakewalk. Basically it would have a look at your setup then download and install the latest recommended kexts and other modules. I think this would make Kakewalk the premier Hackintosh tool for ease of use and reliability.

I don't know if Mr Janek knows about this idea. How do we contact him? This is the perfect complement to the Kakewalk installation tool and would allow different, optimised configurations to be made after the initial "basic" install.
  • Great idea!
I'm actually working on something similar and hopefully I will be able to show you some of it soon.
  • Awesome to hear, any chance some 5870 support will work its way into this work?

Ive been banging my head against the wall trying to even find info on how to use kabyls boot file little lone understand it.

Its smart ppl like you that compliment mediocre minds such as myself :)

    Sign me up for testing!
  • I actually have it working, it was really easy, just replace the boot file on the root of your HD where kakewalk makes one and replace it with kabyl's.

if you have any problems let me know and I can send you a modified one give to me by another on this forum.

my next thing to work out how to do it a way of multi booting xp, win7 and os x without having to change a bunch of bios settings everytime..........anyone?

    Win7 + OS X = fine
    WinXP + OS X = fine
    WinVista + OS X = fine
    WinVista + Win7 + OS X = fine
add in XP -->> horror story; see http://www.tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=11151

Been there, tried that, won't do it again. XP just won't play nice with WinVista or Win7.
  • well I am having to change settings in the bios to do it currently but it seems to be working fine.
  • Any updates on this project? Few months without reply.
  • +1

I would like to have this also!
  • +1 any future of this becoming a reality?
